As you know, during Jeremiah's time, there was a great falling away (or apostasy) from God's Word, and many of the children of Israel had turned to their own ways and to other gods. The Old Paths Jeremiah was referring to are definitely for our day. (Mal 3:6) We know that God never changes, so His requirements for us do not change. We are still required to live holy, according to the scriptures. Lev. 19:2; 1 Pet. 1:16.
Holiness is the old path and the good way.
The NIV is supposedly a re-write of the original manuscripts, but when it's compared to the old and tried KJV there are many discrepancies in the NIV.
As far as music is concerned, we believe that is a matter of conscience.Rev. and Mrs. David Johnson, Sr.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00331636403593606727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5824556943490833817.post-53946520503719311812009-03-16T05:11:00.000-04:002009-03-16T05:11:00.000-04:00I to do believe that the Father's Love is conditio...I to do believe that the Father's Love is conditional. He has given us a choice to either accept His grace and obey Him, to recieve His blessing or dissobey Him and recieve punishment. Some will say that He is a "God of Love" and will not punish us. All I have to say to that is that they have not read their bible yet.
I seen a verse you used and it is Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.10: For we are his workmanship, created in Messiah Yehshua (Jesus) unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. You are right most people do not read verse 10 and if they do they relate it to helping old ladies across the street. But the scripture says that these good works were "Before ordained" meaning that they were already given to a people that were required to live by these stipulations. So if they were before ordained, where are they listed and what does it say? If you will look in Exodus you will find these ordnances and what they are. Exo 19:4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.5 ‘And now, if you diligently obey My voice, and shall guard My covenant, then you shall be My treasured possession above all the peoples – for all the earth is Mine.6 ‘and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a Holy nation.’ Those are the words which you are to speak to the children of Israel.”

So there you have it the voice of the Father Himself asking them and all who would chose to follow Him to agree to the covenant that He is making with those who chose to be His children. These words are echoed in the New Test. also. In Tit.2:14, and in 1 Pet.2:9
Just as the Father had to punish the children of Israel for not obeying His Word, He to cannot show partically towards the New Test. believers if we disobey those same words He spoke to them.

RicRichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08219418559724440342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5824556943490833817.post-66340983708514227232009-03-16T04:33:00.000-04:002009-03-16T04:33:00.000-04:00I hear a lot of people quote the passage from Jer....I hear a lot of people quote the passage from Jer.6:16. But do most of them even know what were the "Old Paths" in which they were to seek out and return to. Is that verse to be referred to our lives today? Many pastors preach that we are to return to those old paths, of the christian faith and then say that it is leaving the NIV and other "Versions" of the bible alone and only sticking to the KJV "Version", and leave out the contemperoy christian music and stay with the old gospel music. Is this verse reffering to these things, or is it something different? I'm not against the KJV or gospel music. So this is not an argument against them. What is it are we to return to?

RicRichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08219418559724440342noreply@blogger.com
